Messages to Young People (Book Review)
Messages to Young People by Ellen G. White
My interest to read Messages to Young People stemmed from my desire to learn more about courtship and Christian relationships. Although I wanted to read the book for that purpose, the book covers many other topics and answers questions that young Christians today are seeking wise counsel for. It covers topics like God’s Purpose for today’s Youth, Witnessing for Christ, and being faithful in service – and also emphasizes more in-depth topics such as God’s standards of Success and the deceitfulness of sin.
My favorite section of the book would have to be Section XV: Courtship and Marriage. This section goes over the responsibilities of marriage, tells how to recognize True Love, and most importantly, emphasizes the need of counsel and guidance when going through the courting process. I personally learned much practical information from the book which I try to apply to my life each day.
Overall, the book calls Seventh Day Adventist youth to examine their choices of reading material, dress, music, and social activities and discard cheap amusements that retard spiritual progress. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Messages to Young People from cover to cover and I recommend it to every Christian young person who would like to draw nearer to Christ. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
